Short Line Nymphing Base Leader

Description

Short line or straight line nymphing has been an effective method for catching trout in the mountains for decades… a LOT of decades! These custom leaders make the method simpler with the use of multi-color monofilament for the butt and mid sections for better tracking and determining depth. Unlike newer Euro Nymphing designs, these have a substantial but section to aid in “punching” flies in tight brush. As a “base leader,” they are tapered to 3X, include a tippet ring, and should have the desired length, material (like fluorocarbon) and tippet size (3Xor smaller) added.  The 6′ base leader is best for 7-9′ rods while the 7 1/2′ base leader is better suited for rods 8 1/2′ and longer.
